E.L.WOODY’S Report 030310_031510

I started at 1:30 A.M., in misting rain, for an after Academy Awards party at BOA. Several celebs left after 2 A.M., including ADRIAN BRODY, QUENTIN TARANTINO, JAMIE FOXX, ROSARIO DAWSON, and several other television stars I did not recognize.

I shot a little footage of the clubgoers from across the street, at TROUSDALE, where BAR ONE was located, back in the early 1990s. JOHN and ANTHONY SCOTTO had owned the place back then. JOHN went to prison for a while, so ANTHONY ran the place. When JOHN got out, he and ANTHONY were in a family feud, for some reason. Finally to settle it, their Mom flew in from NYC.

Everyone listens to MOM, especially when she is married to the Boss of the Waterfront, TOUGH TONY SCOTTO, NYC legend. Soon, ANTHONY moved back to The City, and JOHN did what he does best.

Coincidentally, the building housing BOA, today, was known as LUCKMAN PLAZA, back then, and housed the offices of imprisoned Hollywood Private Investigator, ANTHONY PELLICANO.

This night, March 7th, 2010, the girls exiting the new TROUSDALE (BAR ONE), looked hot. Clientele seemed to be interesting. No club sign. I marked this spot down as a place which had potential Looked like “THE BOYS” were back in town.

Later in the month, I had gone out several times, to no avail, then finally on Friday night, early morning, March 14th, I got a call from one of my sources, saying that BRODY JENNER and AVRIL LAVIGNE had just gone into VOYEUR. which was known as PEANUTS, or GRANVILLE, in the day. I scrambled to get there, then waited for two hours for the hot, young couple, if indeed, they were a couple.

Finally, after 2:30 A.M., BRODY and AVRIL were spotted at the back of the parking lot. We shot them at a distance, in the dark, but could not see clearly what was going on. They cut down the alleyway behind the club, to emerge on the back of the other parking lot, where they got into a car and roared out, with BRODY covering AVRIL in the back seat. It would appear that there was something going on with the two. Were they really a couple?

I solved that puzzle when I returned home and brightened my video. There in the shadows was BRODY and AVRIL, who seemed to be friendly to each other, but not romantic. There was also another guy there, with a small mustache, with whom AVRIL was acting romantically. They seemed anxious not to be spotted together, but got into the car with BRODY, together.

I think the mustache guy and AVRIL are the new couple, not BRODY and AVRIL. Too bad, I would have named the new couple AVBRO. Sounds rough and sexy, and is certainly better than BROAV. Oh well, crappy footage in the dark, it probably would not have sold, anyway.

I patrolled town for a while, Saturday night. Sat outside PALIHOUSE, on Holloway, thought PARIS HILTON left, got the video, but it just looks like a PARIS imitator. Left there, followed police cars to the SUNSET STRIP. Nothing serious, or interesting, so I checked out the club, at the end of THE STRIP, TROUSDALE, that I had spotted on Academy Awards night.

There were several limos outside of the location, as I sat in the exact spot from which I had photographed SLY STALLONE leaving BAR ONE, back in the early 1990s, with a blonde model. A chase had insued, which resulted in my rental HONDA Civic being rammed numerous times by the 2 seater Mercedes driven by the RAMBO star. The resulting chase through the streets of West Hollywood was comparable to STALLONE’S best movie, DEATH RACE 2000. That incident started my video paparazzing. The rest is history.

The first to come out of the bar appeared to be NICK STAHL. A couple of autograph seekers stayed tucked in, next to the entrance, so I was pretty sure there was someone still there.

I saw BRENT BOLTHOUSE, the impresario behind TROUSDALE, who reportedly introduced TIGER WOODS to Porn Actress Holly Sampson, was there, in charge, and I felt that this was indeed, a place of interest. BRENT has always had a celebrity clientele. RON, from the old days at the celebrity packed MONKEY BAR, was there, too, and was almost run over by the celeb I had been waiting for, THE FLYING TOMATO, SHAWN WHITE, OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL winner. The redheaded snowboarder appeared and walked, arm in arm, with a friend, to his waiting vehicle. There he climbed into the back seat with his friend. As they left, the autograph collectors got their prizes, as SHAWN signed pictures for them.

As they pulled away, SHAWN hanged out the passenger’s window, and tapped on the car’s windshield, next to them, which had a pretty girl inside. Just having fun, literally hanging out, in HOLLYWOOD!

I will finally post this report, as the full cycle seems to be completed. BAR ONE 1990s to BAR ONE 2010!

Contrary to rumors in Hollywood, it appears that while TOM CRUISE does ride a motorcycle, as illustrated by this video of his ride, Saturday night, leaving the EBELL THEATER in LOS ANGELES. He did not fall down the next day, as reported by many websites.

According to his mouthpiece, he did not fall down, the next day, does not own the motorcycle involved in the wreck, and was not injured in the wreck, that he was not in.

Sunday, March 7th, there was a motorcycle accident in front of KOI Restaurant. The rider was injured. Reports said he went to Cedars Sinai Hospital for treatment. The video shows deep scratches on the left fairing of the red Ducati motorcycle, and a broken left handlebar.

TOM CRUISE’S spokesperson said that Tom Cruise was not involved in an accident, and that the motorcycle did not belong to him.

The wrecked motorcycle was still parked against the curb on La Cienega Blvd., across from KOI Restaurant, several hours after the incident.

I was at the scene of the wreck of CHARLIE SHEEN’S Mercedes Benz on Mulholland Drive, in Sherman Oaks. It is not far from the Sheen residence. A search was on for the occupants of that vehicle, stolen earlier, in the lightly falling rain.

At a briefing of the press gathered there, The Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion spokesperson said, ”After searching around and under the vehicle, with an ID detector, no body was found. No sign of occupants.” and “We found nothing.”

After looking at the steep, muddy, cliffs that the vehicle plunged through, I thought any passenger would have been badly injured. The climb back up would have been impossible, at night, through the thick underbrush, up slopes too steep to climb. It would have been impossible to go back up.

They would have had to go down hill to the next road, through a jungle, in the dark. They would have to be scratched and banged up, badly, at the best. It shouldn’t be hard to spot anyone that scratched up. It would probably look like someone who tangled with a tiger.

Charlie has been up the entire night taking care of this latest incident.
When it rains, it pours! But Charlie is the king of making lemonade out of lemons, and an incident like this, will put his Two and a Half Men ratings through the roof, again. Evidently, controversy does sell. We will know, for sure, as soon as the next ratings come out. Stay tuned.

E. L. Woody Reports from HOLLYWOOD
MY CRAPPY WEEK

GRAMMY’s week has always been a yawn for me, though last year’s Chris Brown Rihanna ass kicking was an unexpected eye opener. This year, I wish I has stayed in bed. For the past year and a half, I have been battling and beating, colon cancer. I have not been on the streets much because I was just too damn worn out from the chemotherapy, the radiation therapy, the surgeries, and finally, the damn disease that I got in the hospital, that lasted for three months. But, with the wonderful help of Paparazzi Henry, Steve, and Larry, I have finally recovered enough to cover another Academy Awards. I am back on the street, cancer free, feeling good, looking for the moneyshot, again.

This time I have no luxury of blowing off a shot, or missing a beat, because our business, and my life, depends upon finding the moneyshot, or, compiling multiple income streams from various sources. I intend to live forever, though it is the winter of my life, but I will rise to the occasion, because the only option is not that attractive to me.

Thursday night, I went to “An Evening of Higher Consciousness”, that THE GYALWANG DRUKPA put on at Club Lingerie, nothing. Saw Brent Bolthouse exit and went home. Lots of great jazz musicians were supposed to perform. I never saw any of them. No one else, either.

Thursday night, Megan Goode, was at Voyeur, which I think these promoters are calling NO PHOTOS. Kind of facetious for Frankie DelGado, cause I did recognize him, and I granted his wish. I took no photos of him. Watch out for what you wish for, because that wish may be granted, Frankie. Several music people were there, not sure who they were. Watch the video and leave a comment with the names, please. Jack Osbourne, Russell Simmons, Justin Murdoch, girl who looked like Sofia Vergara, beautiful Latina, but not Sofia. Then, Chris Paciello and Reza Roohi, of TIGER Sushi in Beverly Hills came by, Nicky Hilton in leopard print, with Bijou Philips, came out to claim their car from the valets, Josh Richmond (promoted Granville, back in the day!)was there with his partner, Ray J actually spent a lot of time signing and chatting with the paps, as someone with him tried to get his attention, calling, Ray, Ray, Ray Jay! She neve got a response, so she switched to calling him Pookie! Pookie was flirting with a blonde, then started talking about how much he loves Armenians. “Armenia is one of my favorite places!” Says Ray J. At least he was very friendly.

I noticed that Henry had arrived at that point. You can read all about who was there on his report. He actually knows who all these people are. Henry is amazing. Brody Jenner was there, seems very self absorbed these days, GONE HOLLYWOOD! Lots of drunk girls in sequined miniskirts, idiots still trying to slip out the back. Just like the old days when this was PEANUTS, then GranVille, and huge stars like Charlize Theron. Leo DiCaprio, and Charlie Sheen partied there every Thursday night. That was before anyone knew who many of them were, so I guess what goes around, comes around.

Henry’s friend OLIVER TREVENA was ranting to Henry and sharing love with him.

Some guy was passed out in front of the 7-11 across the street. I shot a little footage. You never know.

But this weekend was a confusing whirlwind of Escalades and limos, and surburban SUVs, all filled with people I did not recognize. Have I forgotten everything I learned in the three decades that I have photographed and videoed stars? Maybe I just missed it while I was sick?

Sunday Night

Mondrian Hotel Nothing Watching this long boring tape makes me appreciate just how hard it is to consistently come in with great footage. How does Henry do what he does? This is going to take a while to pick up again.

Tried the party at Boulevard 3 on Sunset Blvd, next door to Club Lingerie, where I had been for the GYALWANG DRUKPA, earlier in the week. It was a nightmare. I never got out into the crowd because I never saw anyone worth going after. Went back later, nothing, lots of fancy cars, hos and pimps, bling and Lamborghinis. Went back down the Strip, nothing at HYDE, closed, Bar Marmont, I shot a blonde and her friends, no stars, Standard, nothing, Mondrian, cars coming and going, but nothing for me, nothing at Mel’s Diner, Kings of Leon back in their hotel at Sunset Marquis. Never saw anyone there. Tried one more trip down the Strip, Key Club, nothing, Roxy, nothing, Whiskey A go-go, nothing. Nothing else on Strip, I went to Santa Monica Blvd. to Voyeur, nothing, last stop was Jerry’s Deli at 3 A.M. for eggs Benedict and a fruit bowl. I make better eggs and ham, with Hollandaise, on a bagel half, than they do. Then home this watch the whole long boring video and write this blog. I am old, tired, and discouraged. Did I mention cold? But tomorrow is here, and there is another moneyshot out there, just waiting on me to capture it.

Went out late Saturday night. The rains finally stopped. The SAG Awards were tonight. I checked the clubs, which were empty, then hit the Sunset Strip, in search of an exclusive. Nothing at the Roxy, Whiskey Ago-go, nothing, Key Club, nothing. Finally, at the end of the strip, where West Hollywood ends, and Beverly Hills begins, across the street from the old location of hot 90’s club, BAR ONE, at new restaurant, BOA. Something was going on. There were a few paparazzi scurrying around back, as the club manager was setting up a pickup in front. After all the brou haha, it was only JESSICA SIMPSON and Ken Pave, hairstylist to some stars. I didn’t even get out of the old red pickup truck. I shot it from my window, then U-turned and drove on down the block to CHATEAU MARMONT, where KIRSTEN DUNST was drawing a paparazzi swarm, as she climbed the hill behind the old ROXBURY, to fetch her car. I finally got a live celebrity too smile at CHATEAU MARMONT, where I found handsome Australian Chef CURTIS STONE waiting for his date, who was signing autographs for fans. I forgot to ask who she was. If anyone recognizes her, let me know, please. DIANE KRUGER was there but would not pose. Lo Bosworth was there but hid in a taxi, as she left. Went home.

Sunday night, as the second half of the SAINTS and VIKINGS game was just starting, STEVE called to tell me that he thought BRAD PITT might show up for the MOTORHEAD FOR HAITI CONCERT at THE MUSIC BOX. SO I left the best game of the decade to go in search of BRAD PITT. Well, I did get FAMKE JANNSEN, “YOUNGBLOOD” couple ANNA PAQUIN and STEPHEN MOYER, then STEVE spotted DANIEL CRAIG and his date crossing HOLLYWOOD BLVD. We were right on top of the action and goy great footage of 007 maneuvering through the crowd, hand in hand with his beautiful lady. Got “HAROLD AND KUMAR” star KAL PENN as he chatted with friends. That was about it for my weekend.

HEY YOU CHARITABLE CELEBS! GIVE ME A F#*Kin’ BREAK, WILL YA?

E. L. Woody, King of the Paparazzi, reports on the night of celebrity hubris, when stars should have been kind, to honor their commitment to helping the devastated people of earthquake ravaged, Haiti. After over-indulging in self congratulatory public charity, on every channel on TV, and the net, in the world, and saving the entire population of that destroyed island nation, they just ignored us cold, wet, working smucks, standing in the rain, awaiting any kind word from a star!

Before Henry got his FANTASTIC video, of Katy Perry and Russell Brand, on the Sunset Strip, I was out in the lightly falling rain, outside of CBS Studios, in a futile attempt to continue the good will generated by the mega-stars attending and performing on the highly touted, George Clooney hosted, HAITIAN RELIEF CONCERT.

The Storm of the Century has poured inches of badly needed rainfall onto the parched, fired, thirsty, Southern California soil, in this past week. It is cold and wet standing on the street. As the stars entered the event in the pouring rain, I was at home, a few blocks away, watching the overproduced, over rehearsed, uninspiring music, which appeared, to me, to be a less than spontaneous outpouring of celebrity hubris.

I arrived at the CBS gate, as the stars departed, through the fog and drizzle, zipping past the five remaining paparazzi, and on down the street. Most of the celebs didn’t even wave. Only Chevy Chase rolled his window down. Ellen DeGeneris was trapped at the light and waved as she chatted on her cell phone. I caught glimpses of Russell Brand, Jared Leto, Halle Berry, Jenna Elfman, and a couple of others who looked familiar, no Brad Pitt, unless that was him on the motorcycle, no George Clooney, everyone else just whizzed past, as if not wanting to be recognized. Some covered their faces.

What kind of impression does that give to our video watching fans? Seemed like the stars were worn out from being nice on camera, and couldn’t, or wouldn’t, expend any extra energy to continue to promote their worthy charity. Would it have hurt them to stop for a second, to express to our cameras, a desire for our viewers to contribute to their deserving cause? I guess they got all the coverage they needed, inside, because they sure shined us on.

I remember when each of them started their vaunted careers. They weren’t so high and mighty, then. They were struggling actors, trying to survive in Hollywood. Now, they are snooty and aloof. Thankless, supercilious stars in Hollywood, can you believe it? Watch this video to get an idea of what it is like to be an old, wet, cold, paparazzo, trying to get a video, in order to survive, in this sopping sea of snooty, celebrity superciliousness. Give me a F#*kin’ break, will ya? And donate a few bucks to the deserving folks in Haiti, they could use a break, too.

“JERSEY SHORE” CAST PARTIES IN WEHO

SNOOKI and her East Coast crew partied hardy with Leo DiCaprio, Lindsay Lohan (If you believe any of the collectors’ stories, I never saw either of them), but I did see Paris Hilton’s old friend, SCARY MOVIE 3′S star, SIMON REX, mooching cigs from the paps, and lovely, long stemmed DWTS dancer, STACEY KIEBLER, buzzing around the parking lot.

Then the NJ Mob came hustling out the front door of the hot, West Hollywood night club, VOYEUR, I had no idea who they were, but I still managed to get decent footage from within the paparazzi frenzy. Nicole “Snooki” Polizza tried to get her picture taken, but her security kept putting his hand over her face. Video cameras were everywhere.

I remember, fondly, the days (actually ten years. 1993-2003), when, my guys and I were the only video paparazzi in Hollywood. Then I did “CELEBRITIES UNCENSORED” for E!, now everyone has a video camera. And everyone is shooting for one show or another, in the same space that I had all to myself for so many years. While this is good for the public, as they now get many versions of the celebrity news, it’s bad for us, as we have to compete with all of them for enough cash to pay the rent.

Everyone is a videorazzi, now! I consider them, “My evil spawn!” Madding crowd, as Thomas Hardy might say. Is Gonzo gone? Time will tell.
